History of Women in the Workforce

• For the past century women have been progressing
  from domestic housewives to important career
  women.
• Mid to late 1800s women were limited to jobs such
  as teaching, inn-keeping, and taking care of the
  family business if the husband died.

Women in the Workforce

• With the invention of the typewriter, by 1900
  stenographers and typewriters were 75 female.
• The largest turning point for women in the
  workforce was due largely to WWII when the men
  got shipped overseas and women received job
  opportunities like working in war factories,
  service sector, and becoming nurses.
• At the beginning 12 million women were working,
  by the end of the war 18 million women had jobs.
