2Search teams have pulled a woman, Myra Plekam of
Kensington, alive from the rubble of a massive
building collapse in Center City Philadelphia.
Word of the dramatic development came after 1130
p.m. Wednesday. The dramatic rescue came some 13
hours after the massive building collapse on
Market Street - and after an evening when crews
removed six bodies from the rubble already. The
collapse happened when a 4-story building at 2140
Market Street, which was being demolished,
collapsed onto the two-story Salvation Army
Thrift Store, located next door. Of the 14
injured, most were reported to have minor
injuries. Bystanders immediately jumped into
action, helping assist the wounded before first
responders arrived.

were stopped at a fake security checkpoint manned
by the gunmen in military uniforms, Ramadi police
said. Iraqi security forces are investigating the
incident, and no further details were immediately
available, police said.
