Mom Jim, could you come here please? Dad and I
have been planning our family
vacation. I want to talk about some

go to Disneyland. Janet wants to go to
Hawaii, but I told her Disneyland would
be better. Mom Lets talk about something
different, Jim. Dad wants to have an
adventure. Jim What kind of adventure? Mom He
wants to take a trek through a jungle in
Brazil. Jim What?

• Imagine you are planning to spend a holiday with
  your family.

Mom I was afraid of the idea, too. But I talked
to a travel agent today, and she gave
me these posters. Look at the birds and
animals we would see! Dont you want to
have an exciting vacation? Jim Disneyland would
be exciting. Hawaii would be exciting. A
trek through the jungle is not exciting-its
dangerous. Listen to your son! I know what
makes a good vacation. Mom I had been
thinking about relaxing on a beach. But
weve had that kind of vacation. Jim Lets do
it again! A vacation on the beach would be
fine.

An Englishman was showing a foreign visitor
around London. Whats that strange
building?asked the visitor. Thats the Tower of
London. I see . How long did it take to build
it? About 500 years. In my country we can
build it in five months. Said the visitor.
Shortly after that they came to St.Pauls
Cathedral.??? Very interesting! said the
Englishman. How long did it take to build it ?
Nearly forty years, said the Englishman. In
my country we can finish it in forty days at
most. Said the visitor. This went on every time
they saw a new one, the visitor asked what it was
and how long it took to build it. Then he said
that they could do the same thing much faster in
his country. At last the Englishman got angry
with the visitor though he tried not to show it.
Several days later they came to the House of
Parliament ???and the visitor asked his usual
question, Whats that? The Englishman
answered, Ive no idea. It wasnt there last
night.
