  • Download the software from www.microsoft.com
  • (Mac users will need something different see
    your Blackboard mail)
  • Go to downloads

  • Go to Download Center

  • Go to Windows Media

  • Go to Windows Media Encoder 9 Series
  • Then Validate
  • Then download and run the setup file and
    download Windows Media Encoder

  • Make sure you have the initial window you want to
    display open on your desktop
  • Go to your Start menu and open the Windows
    Media folder
  • Launch Windows Media Encoder

  • Double click on Capture screen

  • Check (click) the box by Capture audio
  • Click Next

  • Make sure the High setting is selected
  • Click Next

  • Browse for the folder you want to put the
    recording in and name the file appropriately
  • Click Next

  • Fill out the first two lines here
  • Click Next

  • Make sure this box is clicked
  • Click Finish

  • Now you are ready to record
  • When you click Ok this screen will be minimized
    to your bottom toolbar, your top window on your
    desktop will be displayed, and the recording is
    automatically rolling
  • To end the recording, reopen this window from
    your toolbar and press Stop

Final Steps
  • When you stop the recording, the file is
    automatically saved as a .wmv file to the folder
    you selected in Step 9
  • These files upload easily to your wiki
  • But Ive had trouble getting YouTube to accept
    them, so I have converted them to .mov files
    using a converter I purchased (very small fee)
    from http//www.nchsoftware.com/prism/
