What is Resiliency?
  • the ability to recover from lifes challenges
  • bouncing back from adversity and change
  • coping successfully in the face of stress and
    at-risk situations
  • children are under construction and can develop
    resiliency as they grow

Resiliency and Mental Health
  • resiliency promotes mental health and the ability
    to take control of ones life
  • 1 in 5 children, in Canada, have a mental health
    challenge such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, etc.
  • individual temperament, self-concept, learning
    abilities and physical health contribute to a
    childs resiliency
  • risk and protective factors influence resiliency
    and optimal mental health
