  • NAP-GSP responded to official request for support
    from Government.
  • Mr. Dini Abdallah Omar, Secretary General and
    UNFCCC Focal Point, Ministry of Housing, Urban
    Planning and Environment is focal point. NAP-GSP
    will follow up on discussions.

  • RWANDA
  • Government has nominated Mr. Faustin
    Munyazikwiye, Director of Climate Change and
    International Obligations Unit at Rwanda
    Environment Management Authority (REMA) as focal
    point for scheduling a follow-up teleconference.
  • UNDP, UNEP and AfDB are working together to
    support the Govt. with the costing of a Green
    Economy related plan in order to inform planning
    and budgeting processes on costs of climate
    change related actions.
  • SUDAN
  • Prof. Haider Elsafi, Secretary General, Higher
    Council for Environment and Natural Resources
    (HCENR) has been nominated as focal point.
  • Preliminary discussions on NAP-related needs held
    during COP19.
  • Scheduling a follow-up teleconference.
  • MALAWI
  • UNDP, UNEP, and UNITAR have discussed potential
    entry points with the Govt. of Malawi.
  • Govt. of Malawi has advanced their NAP process
    through their National Climate Change Programme
    (NCCP).
  • NAP-GSP agreed to assist with facilitating
    stakeholder dialogue to determine the appropriate
    institutional arrangements for the implementation
    of NAP process including sharing of other
    countries experience.
  • The Government is closely coordinating on their
    NAP related work via the UNDP Country Office.
  • The NAP-GSP invited Mr. A.M. Kamperewra,
    Environmental Affairs Department, to speak at a
    COP19 side event (organized by the GEF and GIZ)
    on progress of Malawi on support requested from
    the NAP-GSP.
  • NIGER
  • Dr. Kamayé Mââzou, Sec. Gen. National Council of
    the Environment for Sustainable Development, is
    the focal point for NAP-related discussions.
  • During discussions at COP19, Niger requested
    support with conducting a stock take of ongoing
    initiatives to mainstream climate into national
    planning and budgeting in order to identify gaps.
  • Niger requested support around Feb/March to
    sensitize the local donor community and find ways
    for bilateral finance to support the NAP process.
  • COMOROS
  • NAP-GSP responded to official request for support
    from Government.
  • NAP-GSP is pending for nominated designee for
    follow-up teleconference.
  • MALI
  • Following request for support, the NAP-GSP is
    awaiting the nomination of a designee to discuss
    Malis support needs.
  • BANGLADESH
  • In conjunction with the UNDP Country Office,
    NAP-GSP support is aligned with a USD 40,000
    grant from the Norwegian Government to commence a
    NAP roadmap.
  • Mr. Quamrul Chowdhury, Chairman, Joint
    Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC), met
    the NAP-GSP team during COP19. Assistance is
    requested for facilitating inter-ministerial/cross
    -sectoral discussions to sensitize Bangladeshi
    officials on the NAP process and chart out a NAP
    action plan.

    awaiting the nomination of a designee to discuss
    Mauritanias support needs.

  • THE GAMBIA
  • Following request for support, the NAP-GSP is
    awaiting Mr. Pa Ousman Jarju, Director and UNFCCC
    Focal Point Department of Water Resources -
    nominated focal person - for details on specific
    support needs.
  • UNDP is assisting Gambia with the conduct of a
    CPEIR analysis in order to held identify specific
    entry points for advancing the NAP process.

  • M. Honadia Permanent Secretary, National Council

    indicated that the support required includes

    on establishing a system to support climate
    sensitive development planning iteratively and
    establishing this system is needed.
  • Fielding a UNDP assistance team to Ouagadougou in

  • A team from UNEP visited Benin in Oct. 2013 to
    determine needs in context of NAPs aligning
    support on Green Climate Fund (GCF). Readiness
    with work that is required in context of the NAP
    process. Additional discussions are pending.
  • CAMBODIA
  • Several strategies have been developed and
    adopted in Cambodia. However, climate change
    action is not yet fully mainstreamed in
    development planning and budgeting.
  • Cambodia is seeking support to mainstream climate
    change into development planning.
  • GIZ, UNDP and UNEP working together to develop a
    draft TOR for initiating support the Cambodian
    NAP process.
  • MOZAMBIQUE
  • Meeting held at COP19 with NAP-GSP focal point
    Ms. Telma Antonio Manjate, Head of Dept. of
    International Cooperation, Ministry for the
    Coordination of Environmental Affairs, to discuss
    needs.
  • DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO
  • NAP-GSP responded to official request for support
    from Government.
  • Government of DRC has assigned Professor Jean
    IIDEMPO as focal point for follow-up.
