Week of Dec.9th 13th Volume 8
This week in math students are focusing on
multiplication. We are using arrays as a tool to
help us solve multiplication problems. Students
can practice multiplication using flash cards at
home. We will also be starting our speed test
this week!

We will be continuing to work on our inferring
skills using clues to decipher what the author
wants us to know. We are also working on the plot
of stories, and we have introduced the element of
characters and their traits.

This week we are continuing our study of verbs
and their endings to show when the verb has
happened. Our spelling rule this week is adding
the inflected ending ing to verbs.
In our writing workshop, we are continuing to
brainstorm ideas for some poems of our own. We
are exploring how adjectives can emphasize our
nouns and with deepening our study of verbs, we
are adding to this. Adverbs will be the next
concept we cover. Continue to work on your
childs paragraph structure in their reading task
responses.
This week, in Science, we will be learning about
force. Students will learn about simple machines
and how they help to make work easier.
