Construction

• After the keel has been laid, construction begins
  on the frame . The frame is similar to the ribs
  in the human body, and it forms the basic shape
  of the hull.

Facilities Onboard

• There were many different facilities on board
  like 2 parlour suites each with a 50 foot
  private promenade and 7 other First Class
  Staterooms and suite.

Maiden Voyage

• The vessel began her maiden voyage from
  Southampton, bound for New York City on the 10th
  of April 1912, with Captain Edward. J. Smith in
  command.
• As Titanic left her berth her wake caused the
  liner SS New York .

Iceberg Collision

• That Sunday at 1345 a message from the steamer
  America warned that large icebergs lay in
  Titanics path but as Jack Phillips and Harold
  Bride the Macoroni radio operators were employed
  but they just ignored them.

The Sinking

• It is well established that the sinking of the
  Titanic was the result of an iceberg collision,
  which fatally punctured the ships five forward
  most water tight compartments.
• The first lifeboat launched was lifeboat 7 on
  the star board side with 28 people on board out
  of capacity of 65.

Survivors

• The total of 2,223 people aboard the Titanic
  only 706 ,less than a third survived and only
  1,517 perished. The majority of deaths were
  caused by Hypothermia .
