Look at the pictures and the brief
introductions, then work in pairs to discuss
which of these women is a great women. You need
to give your reasons to your choice.
How many great women can you thinks of? Who are
they? And why do you think they are great?

She was an inventor and a scientist from Poland.
She went to Paris and studied physics and
chemistry there.
She was given the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in
1911.
She is the only woman scientist who was
awarded Nobel Prize for two times.

scientist were awarded the Nobel Prize in
Physics for their discovery of radium. On July
4,1934, she died in Paris, killed by her own
experiments. She died of radiation poisoning.

Chinese history. She concerned herself with
welfare projects, leading China Welfare Institute
especially for women and children.

Jody Williams Jody Williams helped found an
international campaign to stop the use of
landmines. She worked hard to make as many
countries as possible agree not to use them. She
and her organization were given the Nobel Peace
Prize in 1997.

dressed as a man and went to fight for the French
and to drive the English out of France. She was
caught and put to death by the English.

study animals. She went to Africa and studied
