• Acute HBsAg anti-HBc - IgM
• Acute resolving anti-HBc-IgMIgG

• Immune (after vaccination or immune globulin)

HCV Testing Algorithm

• 1. test for anti-HCV
• 2. if positive test using NAT or RIBA
• 3. if positive for NAT or RIBA evaluate medically
  for active infection and liver disease
• 4. if negative for NAT test with RIBA
• 5. if positive for RIBA evaluate medically for
  active infection and liver disease
• 6. if negative for RIBA and NAT stop
• NAT nucleic acid test RIBA
  recombinant immunoblot assay
