Title: Leo Full Moon

1
Leo Full Moon
2
Why are we here?
The time of the full moon is a time of
celebration.
We celebrate the energy of the SUN.
The reason is that when the Moon is full it is
the furthest from the Sun, thus the Suns energy
is the strongest.
Thus we celebrate the energy of the Sun through
meditation and reflection.
3
All is Energy!
For those of you who are not familiar with
esoteric philosophy or do not know it well I
will remind you that all is energy. Thus you
should simply relax and try to feel the energy
rather then concern yourself with understanding
everything.
During the lecture you can ask questions or make
comments. After the meditation you may also ask
questions.

5
The Sign of Leo
6
Which sign is the Sun in?
  • The Sun is in Leo.

And which sign is the Moon in?
The Moon is in Aquarius.
7
Why should you learn aboutLeo if you are not one?
You may have another planet - or the Moon in
Leo.
Even if you do not the Leo energy will still
affect you - and, perhaps, as importantly those
around you.
If you are a Leo you may not display all of the
characteristics of Leo as you have other planets
and energies which also affect you.
8
What mode isLeo associated with?
9
Fixed
10
What do we know about theFixed mode?
Leo wants to keep its personal power.
maintaining something, changing things so they
are the same as before, or stabilizing things
11
What element isLeo associated with?
12
Fire
13
What do we know about Fire?
Raise
Fire cannot truly be confined
Associated with spirit
Raw energy
Sun and Stars
14
What about Fire people?
vitalising energy
High Spirits
Enthusiasm
Freedom
Honesty
Consumed
Openness
Why they must do what they must do!
15
What else about Fire people?
they are generous but egoistic
assertive
the most daring and capable inspiring natural
leaders
energies can stimulate others
but they can also overpower and exhaust them
that they fail to notice the powers and abilities
of others
16
So what happens when we put the mode of fixed
together with the element of fire?
17
We get Leo!
  • As the fifth sign of the zodiac, Leo represents
the fifth stage in the evolution of man and his
    place in the universe.
  • The Leo need is
  • to develop mans creative urge.
  • Creativity is not entirely an emotional urge in
Leo, it is also an expression of ego. The mind
and heart are united in Leo to represent mans
    ultimate individuality.

18
Leos are stubborn and impervious to changes not
of their own making.
They are however, able to accomplish things in
life because of their tenacity in sticking with
projects when others lose patience and stamina.
Unfortunately, stubbornness in the Leo
personality is dictated more often than not by
their ego.
Attempts to back them into a corner, or demanding
that they change their thinking or behavior will
quickly reveal the extent of their intractable
nature.
19
Leos react physically to everything they
experience.
Their penchant for exaggeration and overreaction
works well in the theater, advertising schemes,
and other situations where a bigger than life
approach is desirable.
Leos are often guilty however, of habitually
turning a mundane problem or fairly routine
situation into an overblown crisis, much to the
confusion and annoyance of those around them.
Leos tackle projects others would not attempt,
though they cannot help calling as much attention
as possible to their efforts.
Before they assess the practicality or worth of
what they are doing, before they sort out their
true emotions, and before they take time to
reason things out intellectually, their tendency
is to shoot first and ask questions later.
20
Leos Astrological Symbol
  • The majestic lion, the King of the Beasts, is
Leos symbol. Throughout history, the lion has
    symbolized sovereignty, rulership, and courage.
The lions size and strength have captured human
    imagination since ancient times.
  • Leos, like lions, are thought to be strong
leaders. They generally have a regal quality to
them, and possess a noble manner that is hard to
    miss.

21
Leos Constellation
22
Leos Constellation
23
Leos Astrological Glyph
?
  • The glyph for Leo represents the mane of the
    lion.

24
The Leo Myth
The medieval legend of Parzival.
25
Parzival
Parzival is the epitome of the hero on the quest.
Our mythical hero, like many other heroes, is
fatherless at the beginning of the story
He decides to become a knight.
26
Strangely, Leo is often fatherless, or has a
difficult relationship with the father. It seems
as though the deeper significance that underlies
the sign requires a kind of search for a true
Father, an inner self or spiritual core. And the
call to leave what is known and comfortable for
the sake of a dangerous but shining future is
also characteristic of Leo. Often he must rebel
against authority or social mores to begin his
quest. No matter where you find him, Leo always
has his eye on becoming bigger, better,
greater. There is always something beckoning him,
more attractive than the place hes in.
27
Parzival begins his adventures
There is a sick old king
There is an enigmatic and beautiful woman
a sword and an object which comes to be known
in later Christianized legends as the Holy Grail
Parzival
Parzival stares, bewildered at this drama, but
does not say anything
What does this mean?
a great angry voice speaks and tells him he has
made a dreadful mistake and failed
Parzival has a vision in a forest when he finds
himself in a mysterious glittering castle
28
Parzival awakens from his vision cold and alone
in the wood. He realizes that he has been blind
and ignorant, and resolves to find the Grail
Castle again one day. The second part of the
legend concerns the process of his slow
maturing. Eventually, a man and a true hero, he
rediscovers the castle after much pain and
suffering and the passage of twenty years. This
time he remembers to ask the question. And he
discovers that he is really the son of the Grail
King, and becomes the new King and custodian of
the Stone of Life.
29
If we remove the later embellishments which
Christianity has placed over the tale, we can see
in it the pattern of Leos life. For the quest of
Leo is the quest of the Self Who am I? What does
my life mean? What is it that makes me different
from others?  It is a deeply introverted and
profound quest. Many Leos are not aware in any
way that this is their road but they follow it
nonetheless.
The creative process doesnt really have anything
to do with the audience. It is between Leo and
himself, the think within him that creates. It is
this discovery that an Other, a Something inside
is capable of offering creative ideas and images
through the medium of ones own mind and hands
that is Leos most important discovery.  Thats
the road to the Grail Castle. The Leo who is
courageous enough to pursue this road will come
eventually to his own centre.
30
For this reason too, Leo is self-centered. He has
a kind of constant self-consciousness, a sort of
watcher that is always watching himself watching
himself, that never really allows him to be
totally aware of the environment except in
relation to himself. It is almost impossible for
Leo to detach from himself.  Nor should he. His
whole journey is about discovering who that
watcher is.
Leos tendency towards self-centeredness can be
irritating to other signs.  But it needs to be
seen for what it is  a powerful drive towards
self-recognition.  Leo also needs to understand
it, because otherwise he can make the mistake of
assuming that its the little me thats the
object of all that energy.  Then he really
becomes insufferable.  He can inflate, and think
hes the most wonderful thing in the world.
Gods chosen son to whom all the world owes
obeisance. But if Leo ever understands that the
Other is not him, but his source, then he has
truly come to the vision of the Grail, and
becomes a light which illumines the lives of
others not by what he does, but by what he is -
the true hero who has found his journeys goal.
31
Well now mention some of the challenges to Leo.

35
The Exoteric Rulerof Leo is the Sun
Its outer expression is kernelled in
self-conscious activity it has yet to leave the
personal center of existence.
36
The Esoteric Rulerof Leo is the Sun
Esoterically the Sun-in-Leos purpose is to heal
others, to illuminate them. His is the might in
behalf of the Almighty. After conquering self, he
leads his followers into the light.
In Leo the royal sun sign the Sun is both
exoteric and esoteric ruler. Leo and Capricorn
are the only signs that have both the exoteric
and esoteric ruler the same. In Capricorn its
Saturn.
37
Leo Rays 1 and 5
Ray I representing the first initiation where
Christ consciousness is awakened and anchored
within the cave of the heart.
Ray V this corresponds to the fifth principle
of mana or mind (Leos mane mental aura), and
Leos element of five.
38
The Labours of Hercules
Each sign represents a different aspect of mans
development.
This is the story of the individual Christ,
crucified upon the cross of matter, and
incarnated in each human being, God, incarnate in
matter.
The Labours of Hercules was written in 1936 by
Alice Bailey wherein Hercules needs to complete
12 tasks one in each sign.
39
The Labour in Leo
The Slaying of the Nemean Lion
40
Hercules completes his task
afraid yet unafraid, alone yet not alone
Hercules faces the lion
the lion and serpents must be slain again and
once again
41
Interpretation of the myth
This fifth sign of Leo is significant, for the
number five is, esoterically speaking, the number
of man
What does the lion represent?
Hercules, symbolising the lion of the Self or soul
the Nemean lion, the co-ordinated dominant
personality of the lower self
42
Further Comments
The culmination of the previous four labours
covering the path of Probation
As marking the beginning of the path of
Discipleship
The lower reasoning mind must be sacrificed to
the universal mind and the lower self of
individual self-assertion conquered
the time has come when the lion of the soul must
prevail over the lion of the self
group conscious and working towards the good of
the whole.

We can view this as the energy of fire high
spirits, enthusiasm, assertiveness (Leo) on the
level of the personality and air logic, thought,
intellect (Aquarius) on the level of the
emotions looking at the elements. Both are
fixed signs which are concerned with maintaining
something, changing things so they are the same
as before, or stabilizing things.

48
Jupiter square Pluto implies a generation that
succeeds through sheer force of will power.
Societal situations which confront these
individuals involve issues of power and control
and, as a result, they are forced to analyze and
understand human psychological motivations and
behavioral patterns. How much of this spills into
their private affairs is a matter of other
factors in their personalities and backgrounds.

50
Saturn opposite Uranus is a generational aspect
that indicates fierce opposition between the old
and the new, the liberal and the conservative
elements of society. Compromise is rarely
possible. When a winner is declared, there is
usually no trace left of the losers or that which
they represented.

52
Sun trine Jupiter indicates those apt to be
honest, open, and optimistic with a great deal of
creative energy. They may be very spiritual and
inspiring leaders, though at times, they may lean
toward overestimation and hyperbole. They may
also be lazy or miss valuable opportunities by
taking too much for granted. Being put at some
disadvantage is sometimes a good thing to urge
these individuals forward.
Moon sextile Jupiter indicates those who develop
(and are given) a number of valuable sources from
which they obtain information, news, or whatever
is required in a particular situation. They may
not be wealthy or lucky until they absolutely
need help then from out of the blue, help
arrives, and they are saved from whatever
disaster threatens. . . at least temporarily.

54
Though individuals with Mercury opposite Neptune
may be expert in some narrow field of endeavor
they may be out of touch with reality on a broad
basis. Thoughts and ideas rarely depend on logic
or attempts to understand the facts. Assumptions
are drawn from their past and on their vivid, but
sometimes faulty imaginations. This aspect often
indicates great spirituality. These individuals
may prefer solitude, or this condition may be
imposed.

Coming on August 6th, 2010
56
It is many years since we have experienced a
cardinal grand cross of this magnitude and it
suggests that the events of this year carry
tremendous significance for the future of
humanity and our planet. We could call it a
make-or-break year, a year where the choices we
make and the actions we take carry a greater
weight and importance and we may feel the weight
and expectations of generations past and future
upon our shoulders in a particularly intense or
focused way. This is a year where we are all
being held to account, challenged to act with the
highest integrity, to stand up for what we
believe, align ourselves to our own deepest truth
and act from that place. We are living in
extraordinary times of unprecedented change, both
in terms of consciousness shift and in
geo-political-economic terms. We can identify the
energy of 2010 as being absolutely pivotal to
those changes.
57
Why are we here tonight?
The time of the full moon there is a direct
alignment between the energy of the sign the sun
is in and the affairs of the sign the moon is in.
Sun Leo integrated individuals
Moon Aquarius integrate the world
In our meditation this evening, let us visualize
a common goal for humanity. Groups of men and
women of goodwill bonding together to support
right-human values. Let us use our magical powers
of manifestation, and see this happen. Leaders
and ordinary people alike, afire with goodwill
and humanitarian vision, acting in concert for
the good of mankind as a whole.
