the use of vegitable oils. A French company did
run an early diesel engine at the 1900 Paris
world exhibition on 100 peanut oil (or earth nut
oil)

Transesterification Veggie oils consist of three
fatty acid molecules attached to a glycerin
molecule, or a triglyceride. Three alcohol
molecules are combined with a catalyst (like Lye,
NaOH) to produce an alkyl ester (biodiesel) and
glycerin
