Title: FLUID PRESENTATIONS

1
FLUID PRESENTATIONS
2
The Big Task
  • Your group will perform a demonstration that will
explain one of the three principles Pascals,
    Archimedes or Bernoullis.
  • Your group will define the principle while using
a PowerPoint your group has created.
  • Your group will explain the applications of the
    principle while conducting the demonstration.

3
The Task 1
  • Choose one demonstration related to a principle
  • and
  • Choose one demonstration related to air pressure
  • or
  • Choose two demonstrations related to one
    principle

4
The Task 2
  • Create a PowerPoint that includes the following
  • Slide 1 - Title of Demonstration and Principle,
    Group Number, Group Members
  • Slide 2 - Scientists discovery of principle and
    background history
  • Slide 3 - Defining the principle(s)
  • Slide 4 - Listing materials needed for
    demonstration(s)
  • Slide 5 - Describing the Demonstrations
  • For each demo include a labelled diagram of the
demo with arrows showing the fluid flow
    throughout the demo
  • You should also include other pictures/drawings/vi
    deo of demo
  • Slide 6 - Describing the Applications
  • Explain the demonstration and its applications to
    daily life.
  • Last Slide - Source Page

5
The Task 3
  • Each group member is responsible for a 1 page
paper that includes at least one source
  • The paper should discuss the definition of the
    principle
  • The paper should include the answer to the
question your group has assigned to you
  • Your paper can also address how the group
    demonstration will show the principle
  • Your paper should be turned in on the day you
present your demonstrations and it should be
stapled to the back of the group sheet

6
The Task 4
  • Each group member is responsible understanding
the demonstrations your group will conduct.
  • You should understand the principle
  • You should understand how the demonstration will
    show the principle
  • You should be able to describe the applications
of your principle to daily life
  • Each group member is responsible for explaining
their part of the project to the other group
    members

7
The Evaluation
  • Your group will be evaluated on the basis of
  • Did the group, thoroughly, explain the principle?
  • Did the group explain how the demonstration shows
    the principle?
  • Did the group explain the applications of the
    principle to everyday life?

8
Demonstration Requirements
  • You must choose the demonstration from the list
    given to you
  • You may do other demonstrations but see me first
    for approval
  • Every group member must have a part in the
    presentation/demonstration
  • You are responsible for all supplies needed

9
Materials and Equipment
  • You should list all materials and equipment
    needed for your demonstration
  • Know how each of the materials is used in demo
  • Be prepared to discuss the materials and
equipment needed with me if you want to use some
    of my supplies.
  • We will need a video person for each group- This
person is not a member of your group and should
not have taped more than one other group demo.
