8Scope and Purpose
- Scope This project will define a 24 GHz, and
above, alternative PHY clause for a higher data
rate amendment to Standard 802.15.3-2003. - Purpose This standard is for a millimeter-wave
based alternative PHY that can achieve higher
data rate transmission, higher frequency re-usage
and superior coexistence than the existing
802.15.3 wireless systems. Multiple data rates
will be offered. One optional data rate will be
greater than 2Gbps, to satisfy an evolutionary
set of consumer multi-media industry needs for
WPAN communications.
