Title: GCL overview

1
WHAT IS BENTONITE?
Bentonite is an ore whose main ingredient is the
clay mineral named montmorillonite.
It was formed hundreds of millions of years ago
through the aqueous deposition of volcanic ash.

BENTONITE
5 DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES FOR LINING APPLICATIONS
3
SWELLS
1 IT WHEN WETTED
Bentonite swells up to 15 times its original
volume if unconfined a swell potential force
exists when confined. This makes bentonite an
active barrier.

2 IT SEALS WHEN WETTED
Bentonite granules transform into a seamless,
monolithic membrane when wetted

3 ITS SELF-HEALING.
When hydrated, bentonite expands and conforms to
irregular surfaces, penetrations, and infiltrates
cracks and voids in concrete.

4 ITS GREEN
  • Non-toxic
  • NSF certified
  • FDA certified
  • No volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
  • Used in toothpaste, skin lotions, soap,
pharmaceuticals, cattle feed, even used to filter
    fine wines and fruit juices

5 PROVEN TRACK RECORD
  • 20 years of successful performance
  • Hundreds of millions of square feet installed
    worldwide via installation companies,
    geosynthetics suppliers, and GCs.
  • Technical assistance available in over 40
    countries

9
CETCO is the only GCL manufacturer that produces
its own bentonite
  • Superior knowledge of bentonite chemistry and
    performance
  • Total control over bentonite quality
  • No limits on production capacity
