5Commercial Driver Licenses
- Class A Tractor Trailers

6NJ Basic License
Must be 18 to get one! (after 1 year of
unsupervised driving) Have 60 days of moving
into NJ to apply for one Those under 21 have a
different appearing license than those above

- This is a restriction free, license that you
ultimately wish to obtain. - Must be 18 to obtain. (Can get permit at 16)

11Graduated Driver Licenses (GDL)
- -Multi stage licensing system.
- Introduces young drivers to the road gradually.
- Fines are 100 for violations
123 Types of Permits
- A Learners Permit Age 16 (The Early Bird
Road) - B Exam Permit Age 17 (The Young Adult Road)
- Learners and Exam permit Driver must have
for 6 months (excluding suspensions) - Cannot drive between 11 pm and 5am
- C Adult Permit Age 21
- Adult Permit Driver must have for 3 months
and has no time restrictions

- Dependents 1 additional personal unless
accompanied by a parent or guardian. (Then have
as many passengers as there are seatbelts)

- Other Rules
- Must practice supervised driving for 6 months
excluding suspensions before you can attempt to
take road test. - Supervised driver must be licensed in the state
of New Jersey, have their license for 3 years
and be 21 years old or older - After 1 year with probationary license, you may
get your Basic License (must be 18 years old)

- No cell phones or electronic devices (AT ALL)
- Must wear seat belts
- Passengers are limited to dependants of the
permit holder and parent or guardian and one
additional person, - If a permit driver commits a traffic offense,
responsibility is on both the student, and
instructor. - You can get them if not in suspension status
16Graduated Driver License Program Adult Permit
- Must be 21
- Must practice with supervising driver for 3
months - Must practice unsupervised for 1 year
(probationary license). - No time restrictions or passenger restrictions
17Probationary License
- Must be at least 17 years old to get this!!!
- Must have completed 6 months with a permit
- Cannot drive between 11 pm and 5 am
- Passengers are limited to dependants of
themselves, and one additional person, unless
accompanied by a parent/guardian - If driver is 21, there are no passenger
restrictions
18GDL Decals Kyleighs Law
- All Graduated Drivers under 21 with a permit or
probationary license must display a red decal on
their front and rear license plates. - Cost is 4 for these decals

20Examination permits for out of State Drivers
- Must purchase within 60 days of moving to New
Jersey - Non-residents under 18 are subject to GDL
requirements, even if in possession of a valid
out of state license.

- Report these if any of them are incorrect, of it
they change at any time. - Name

22Penalties for Altering a License
Loss of driving privilege Up to 1,000 fine Up
