    whether in business or academia
  • 2 documentation styles for research papers
  • MLA (Modern Language Association of America)
    standard in humanities
  • APA (American Psychological Association)standard

  • Double-spaced text
  • One-inch margins all around
  • Indent first word of each paragraph ½ inch from
    left margin
  • Page number placed at right margin ½ inch from
    top margin
  • Precede page number by your last name on each
    page
  • Instead of title page
  • Place name and course info in a block at left
    margin starting 1 inch from top of page
  • Center title one double-space below your name and
    course info

Starting and Customizing Word
  • Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar
  • Point to All Programs on the Start menu
  • Point to Microsoft Office on the All Programs
    submenu
  • Click Microsoft Office Word 2003 on the Microsoft
    Office submenu
  • If the Word window is not maximized, double-click
    its title bar to maximize it
  • If the Language bar appears, right-click it and
    then click Close the Language bar on the shortcut
    menu
