• Outer City estate in the West of Leicester, built
  around the Braunstone estate (Braunstone Hall

• Built in the 1930s as a garden suburb to house
  artisans (South Braunstone) and residents
  decanted from the city slums (North Braunstone)
• Around 5000 homes with a population of just under
  14,000
• Largely White British, but new communities
  starting to move in
• 30 0-15 years, 5316-60 years and 17 60
• Braunstone came top of the index for social
  deprivation for the East Midlands, with
  particularly poor scores for health and
  education

Health and Wellbeing Programme Objectives

• Increase quantity, quality and accessibility of
  primary care services
• Provide local facilities for sport and exercise
• Ensure babies/ children up to 4 have the best
  start in life
• Reduce number of teenage pregnancies
• Reduce use of drugs and alcohol
• Promote lifestyle changes smoking, diet,
  exercise
• Support those with mental health problems
• Provide information, advice, guidance and support
  services for the vulnerable/ minority groups,
  including the elderly and those with disabilities.
