Assignment I Critical Review of a Research
StudyIdentify a research study on any
psycholinguistic topic in journals such as
Applied Psycholing, International Journal of
Psycholinguistics, andJournal of
Psycholinguistic Research.  Read the study
report critically to identify issues of concern.
Write a critical review based on the various
sections of the report.20 Submit 1 week before
mid exam

Assignment II Mini ResearchIdentify a child
between the age of 1 to 5 years old. Observe how
the child acquires the first language or a second
language. Audio or video-record the childs
efforts in acquiring or speaking the language
either in natural settings or learning
situations. The recording must be saved to a CD,
and the transcription of the childs speech is to
be presented as data (in the discussion and as an
Appendix) as proof to the childs language
acquisition.  Discuss the childs language
acquisition or performance by referring to any
theory or theories related to first language
acquisition, second language learning,
bilingualism, critical age, language and the
brain, memory, and word, syntactic, vocabulary
and phonological acquisition.20 Submit 2 weeks
before Final
