Title: Parents As Partners

Parents As Partners
  • Mrs. Lord
  • Grade 3

2
Goals
  • My goals for each child are the same. I hope for
each child to grow socially, emotionally, and
academically. I expect the children to take
responsibility for their behavior and their
learning. In the classroom, I strive to create a
warm, caring, and family atmosphere so that
each child will feel confident and comfortable
enough to take risks and learn from their
mistakes. I want your childs third grade
experience to be a fun positive one, where they
will strive to be the best that they can be.

Planners
  • Students are responsible for writing their
homework down in their planners. Your child
should take home his/her planner folder with
homework in it daily. Please look over any notes
that come home and check and sign the planner
nightly after making sure the homework is
complete and of good quality. The students are
responsible for bringing their planners to and
from school. On Fridays, they receive a sticker
for having their planners filled out correctly
and signed all week for their incentive chart.

5
Homework
  • I assign homework every night except Friday.
The homework reinforces what I have taught that
day. If a homework assignment is not completed,
then it will be completed in study hall during
the first half of recess. On Fridays, students
who had their homework completed all week receive
a sticker on their incentive charts.

6
Daily Reading
  • Daily reading is crucial to your childs academic
success. Your child should be reading every
night for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Have your
child write the book title that theyre reading
in the reading box in their planner. We will be
practicing the five finger test for picking out a
    just right book for them.

TIC
  • When you see this on your childs paper, it means
that your child completed the work with the whole
class and it will not be graded. Often we will
work on one side of a paper together and they
will complete the other side independently.

Scholastic Book Orders
  • Book orders will be sent home monthly. Please
pay by check only! This is a great way to get
age appropriate books for home that are tax-free
and are at a reasonable cost. Plus it helps earn
    points for our classroom library!

13
Star of the Week
  • Every child will get their turn to be Star of the
Week. Please help your child gather up some
things the weekend beforehand to share about
