Study 1 - NZMP Colostrum increases Cell Migration
Purpose Determine the effect of Colostrum on cell migration
Approach In-vitro study using human colonic cancer cells (HT-29) were damaged in a controlled fashion, in the presence of various doses of either Colostrum Powder or a negative control.
Outcome Colostrum is more effective than the control at increasing rates of cell migration following cell injury

NZMP Colostrum increases Cell Proliferation
Purpose Measure the effect of Colostrum Powders on cell proliferation
Approach In-vitro study using human colonic cancer cell (HT-29) line to measure the effect. The rate of DNA synthesis was measured by thymidine incorporation, which is a marker of proliferation as it is incorporated into DNA.
Outcome Indicate that Colostrum Powder may help to re-establish normal gut epithelial integrity following injury or damage.

NZMP Colostrum in vivo gastric injury model
Purpose Examine the effects of NZMP Colostrum Powder on a validated model of acute gastric injury
Approach This in-vivo study using the indomethacin/restraint rat model. two different doses of Colostrum Powder were assessed in 41 rats in total, with all rats being treated identically as per the validated model
Outcome Doses of Colostrum Powder tested gave a statistically significant reduction in the amount of macroscopic gastric injury, amounting to 51 reduction (independent of alteration in pH).
