Background
  • Alveolar layer of the cyst are removed

Why decapsulated cysts?
  • A complete contamination free and sterile product
  • Separation problems after hatch are avoided

Preparation
Addition of water and strong aeration
Tank set-up with stainless steel filter and
aeration system

Hydration
  • Dry cysts are hydrated in water with strong
    aeration

Addition of chlorine and caustic soda gt
increases pH above 10
Temperature should be maintained within 25-30?C
  • Addition of chlorine and hypoclorite solution

Colour change
Process lasts from 5-15 min
  • Dark brown
  • Grey
  • Orange
  • The process is stopped immediately after orange
    colour appear

Checking of bouyancy
  • Decapsulated cysts will sink
  • Non-decapsulated cysts will float

Termination of process
  • Process is stopped by adding large amounts of
    water until the smell of chlorine has disappeared
  • Hypoclorite residue absorbed by the cysts is
    neutralized by
  • 0.1 Sodium Thio-sulfate

Transfer to hatching tank
