• To challenge students to explore many sources and
  methods of inquiry and research use of
  archives, news, current events, in geography/
  history/ politics
• To provide challenging tasks with meaningful
  connections from local Texas to the global
  society through current events, media, role play
  scenarios, presentations
• To challenge students to become proud citizens
  and conscious decision makers in their
  reading/writing/thinking about Texas and events
  in their world
