Prosperity

    powerful
  • SC source of raw materials market for British
    manufactured goods
  • Britains dependence on foreign trade was
    lessened improving her balance of trade (exported
    more than imported)

    offering subsidies (bounties)
  • Indigo planters received subsidies

    that could be sold only to Britain
