According to Dictionary.com patriotism means
devoted love, support, and defense of one's
country national loyalty. A patriot is someone
who loves, supports, and is prepared to serve
their country. There are many different symbols
that represent patriotism in the United
States. Patriotic Symbols can be an actual,
tangible item or it can be an abstract.

  • Respecting important U.S. documents

    democracy.
  • As she stands in the New York Harbor she was the
    first sight many immagrants saw as they came to
    America.

    28, 1886 and was designated as a National
    Monument in 1924.

  • It was rung to celebrate the adoption of the
    Declaration of Independence.
  • The final expansion of the crack which
  • rendered the Bell unringable was
  • on Washington's Birthday in 1846.
  • On every Fourth of July, the bell is rung
  • (symbolically tapped), in unison with
  • thousands of bells across the nation.

  • The Pledge of Allegiance is a promise to be
    loyal to our country. By reciting the pledge, we
    are acknowledging our responsibility to our
    country. It is usually recited at public events
    including most schools during their morning
    programs.

  • Our National Anthem was written during the war
    of 1812 by attorney Francis Scott Key. He wrote
    it in reaction to being attacked by the British.
    Many of the lyrics in the song are events that he
    witnessed that night. He wrote the anthem as a
    poem and it was later set to music as our
    National Anthem.
  • The National Anthem is sung during many
    different occasions. It is often sung at
    sporting events, on national holidays, and other
