Philosophy

Clerical screens will be reviewed to assure that the COD consumers are accepted for admission without barrier. Clerical screening procedures will reflect this action. NOTE The program is not paneled by private insurance for mental health services as a result has no option but to refer these patients out which is not very welcoming but driven by the insurance system. Policies will be reviewed to determine if they reflect a welcoming approach. All policies and procedures will identify individuals with co-occurring disorders as a population that is welcomed for admission. Senior Management Team December 2011

Assessment/Diagnosis
A formal assessment tool will be put in place for the psychiatric services to assess for substance disorders to support a diagnosis of abuse vs. dependence, measure stage of change and describe current and past recovery efforts.
