and/or bowel.Urinary incontinence is more
common.

• Difficulties in Hospital-
• Unfamiliar Surroundings
• Inability to get to the toilet
• Mobility Issues
• Unable to summon help in time
• Fear of using a commode

• Consequences-
• Lack of Dignity
• Depression
• Inaccurate Fluid Balance
• Skin Damage

• Solutions-
• Regular toileting (2 hourly)
• Wear pad and pants (but gain patients consent)
• Urosheath
• Catheter
• Regular Cleansing
• No fluids after 6pm.

• Incontinence of Stool
• Reasons-
• Diarrhoea
• Constipation
• History of Overuse of Laxatives
• Nerve Damage/CVA
• Advanced Dementia

• Solutions-
• Wear Pad and Pants
• Faecal Pouches
• Bulking Agents
• Constipating Agents then Enemas
• Treat Cause of Diarrhoea
• ?Infection/Medication related
• Obtain Specimens to determine the cause.

  to the Patient and maintain their dignity always.
