1.2.1 UMASD students are provided with
instruction that is designed to meet individual
student learning needs, learning styles,
interests, and employ culturally sensitive and
responsive practices in an effort to maximize
student learning for every student. 1. Continue
to employ a combination of school-based teams
(data teams, student assistance teams, child
study teams, DVMSA) to collect and analyze
intersecting data and research in order to
personalize instruction and create a culturally
responsive learning environment (alignment to
1.3.1) a. Data teams and the PASS team meet
weekly to analyze data in order to personalize
instruction and to provide support for all
students. b. Teachers and counselors
document data analysis through Team Guidelines.

c. Teams of teachers and administrators
participate in the Delaware Valley Minority
Student Achievement Gap Consortium Workshops.
They will share culturally sensitive practices
during grade level and content
meetings. d. Diverse students will attend DVMSA

Caring culturally sensitive and culturally
responsive practices will be infused throughout
the curriculum. f. Three diverse groups of
students will follow Owning Up Curriculum
a research based culturally responsive curriculum
to assist at risk minority students.

1.2.3 UMASD employs research-based programs to
ensure intervention and extension opportunities
for all students. 1. Teachers will document
Individual Student Plans on Google docs as a
method of intervention for at-risk
students. 1.3.1 UMASD employ a balanced
assessment plan that includes common
assessments, benchmark testes, end of year
exams, regular formative and summative
assessments. 1. Continue to publish an annual
assessment plan which includes summative
assessments to be used by schools to monitor
progress in science. a. Examine science,
curriculum, scores and standards for
re- alignment of curriculum and instruction.

1.3.2 UMASD continuously analyzes student
performance on state assessments.
PSSA/Keystones to assess strengths and weakness
for all students in mathematics, reading,
science, and writing as well as to set targets
for improvement (Alignment to 1.4.2) 1. All
schools will continue to employ a combination of
school-based teams (data teams, student
assistance teams, child study teams, student
achievement teams, DVMSA) to collect and analyze
intersecting data and research in order to
personalize instruction and create a culturally
responsive learning environment as strategies to
close the achievement gap between student groups
as well as the gap between achievement and
growth for individual students. (alignment to
1.2.1) a. Teachers will be trained in the new
Assessment Tracker and in data analysis of
student performance. b. Teachers will mine data
and document in Team Guidelines, monitoring for
at-risk students through Individual Student
Plans on Google Docs.

ensuring smooth transitions for all students
during every step of the process. 1. Develop a
transition plan to be updated annually
a. Counselors provide coffee with counselors
for parents of incoming 5th graders. b. Princi
pals schedule summer building tours and
Transition Night program for parents and
students.
