    suffered, died and was resurrected to bring
    salvation for sin

  • Estimated between 1.5 and 2.1 billion followers

  • Began as a Jewish sect in the eastern
    Mediterranean region around the 1st Century.
  • Persecuted until Constantine issued Edict of
    Toleration in 313
  • Emperor Theodosius established Catholic
    Christianity as the official religion of the
    Roman Empire in 380. Since then, Christianity has
    been a huge factor in the shaping of the west

    political player.
  • At this time the Church was expanding, replacing
    the barbaric tribes with its own. As well as
    starting missionary works around the world.
  • Later this would lead to the Crusades and Spanish
    Reconquistadors.
