Title: Teachers oriented 6.COMBUSTION AND FLAME
1Teachers oriented6.COMBUSTION AND FLAME
- TODAYS TOPIC
- DIFFERENT ZONES OF CANDLE FLAME
2DIFFERENT ZONES OF CANDLE FLAMEA FLAME CONSIST
OF THREE ZONES. THESE ARE INNERMOST ZONE
MIDDLE ZONE OUTER ZONE
3THE INNERMOST ZONE OF CANDLE FLAMETHE INNERMOST
ZONE OF FLAME IS DARK OR BLACK IN COLOUR, THE
INNERMOST ZONE OF FLAME CONSIST OF HOT UNBURNT
VAPOURS OF COMBUSTIBLE MATERIAL (SAY WAX VAPOURS)
4THE MIDDLE ZONE OF CANDLE FLAMETHE MIDDLE ZONE
OF A CANDLE FLAME IS YELLOW IN COLOUR. IT BRIGHT
AND LUMINOUS MEANS LIGHT GIVINGTHE FUEL VAPOURS
BURN PARTIALLY IN THE MIDDLE ZONE BECAUSE THERE
IS NOT ENOUGH AIR FOR BURNING IN THIS ZONE.
5THE OUTER ZONE OF A CANDLE FLAMETHE OUTER ZONE
OF A FLAME IS BLUE IN COLOUR. IT IS NON-LUMINOUS
ZONE (MEANS WHICH DOES NOT PRODUCE MUCH LIGHT).
IN THIS ZONE COMPLETE COMBUSTION OF A FUEL TAKES
PLACE BECAUSE THERE IS PLENTY OF AIR ARROUND IT.
AND ALSO IT IS THE HOTTEST ZONE IN THE CANDLE
FLAME.

11QUESTIONS FOR ABOVE AVERAGE STUDENTS 1 name the
various zones of candle flame and put them in
increasing order according their temperature? 2
why does in innermost zone of flame consist of
hot and unburn vapours of combustible material?
12Ans 1 the three zones of candle flame are
innermost zone, middle zone, and outer zone.
According to increasing Order innermost zonelt
middle zonelt outer zone.Ans2 The innermost zone
consist of hot, unburnt vapours of combustible
material because there is very less air.
13Questions for average students1 Define ignition
temperature ?2 In which zone of a candle flame
complete combustion of fuels is take place to
make light?
14Ans1 The lowest temperature at which the
substance catches fire and starts burning it is
called its ignition temperature.Ans2 In the
outer zone complete combustion of fuels takes
place.
15Question for below average students1 Name 3
combustible/non-combustible objects?2 Which is
the coldest zone of candle flame?
16Ans1 combustible materials wood, paper,
plastic.Non-combustible material iron, steel,
glass.ans2 The coldest zone of candle flame is
innermost zone.
