60o Electric Wire Test - Comment

• FAR states that the test is not a failure if wire
  burns/break in two during the test. It is
  treated as an indeterminate result, and the test
  is run again.
• How do you certify a wire that burns/breaks in to
  during the test? Why is it not a failure? was a
  comment from Carin Demus of Skandia, Inc.
• Answer is that it is treated as an indeterminate
  result, and the test is run again. The Seattle
  Aircraft Certification Office allows Boeing to
  put a support on the wire to prevent the wire
  from pulling apart.

• Seek FAA Transport Directorate endorsement of the
  procedure approved by the Seattle Aircraft
  Certification Office for Boeing
• Incorporate the procedure in the FAA Fire Test
  Handbook for the 60o electric wire test
