Main Job Responsibilities

• Performs autopsies to determine the cause and
  manner of death that falls under the jurisdiction
  of a medical examiner or coroner
• Such things as homicide, accidents and suicides
• Expert witness in court of law, testifying in
  criminal cases

Training/Schooling

• 4 years Bachelors degree
• 4 years Medical degree
• 3-5 year residency in general pathology
• Both anatomic and clinical pathology
• 1 year specialty training program in forensic
  pathology at a ME or coroner's office

Skills that help

• Communication skills
• Not only working with deceased
• Must also talk to and be able to discuss things
  with the family of the deceased
• Salary
• 80,000 to 200,000 per year
• There is a reason for all the schooling!!!!
