  assassination to accomplish its goals

Chinggis Khan

• The leader credited with organizing the Mongols
  into an effective force was Chinggis Khan, he was
  elected the leader in 1206.
• Chinggis Khan was able to unite individual Mongol
  clans
• By the time Chinggis Khan died in 1227, the
  Mongols controlled an empire that extended from
  northern China to eastern Persia
