Title: Make a Microhomogenizer

1
Make a Microhomogenizer 1. Pestle (A) is made
from epoxy glue injected into microcentrifurge
tube of any size you use. Shaft is stiff wire,
such as from large paper clip (B). Drill snug
fitting hole in cap to hold shaft in position
(back from tip 2 mm) while epoxy cures overnight.
Cut or grind excess epoxy and buff pestle with
200 grit garnet paper. Rinse in distilled water
24h to allow any residual epoxide monomers to
leach out. 2. Buy spinbrush (C) and cut off
bristles. Put Scotch tape around spinhead to
form cup shape. Cut end off 1cc syringe (D) and
pot syringe tip to spinhead with epoxy about 4 mm
deep. Cure overnight. 3. Trim cut or grind
excess epoxy from spin head. 4. Cut a short
length of thick walled Tygon tubing (airline) as
a flexiconnection (E). 5. Assemble as
shown. Operation Spinhead oscillates 90
degrees only, so move head up and down to ensure
complete mixing. Pushbutton allows pulse
homogenization and switch for sustained
homogenization. Epoxy pestle is fairly soft, so
unit is not good for use with hard animal tissues
and plant tissues, although molded ceramic or
machined hard pestles could work.
