6General remind child of appropriate behaviour /
desirable outcomes. This is done with positive
phrasing in a level and non threatening tone.
7Warn child is issued a first warning. The
childs appropriate behaviour is made clear and
they are told they are on 1. Again a flat tone
should be used
8Warn Child is told they are on 2. Child is made
aware of the transgression and the desirable
behaviour.
9Removal Child is told they are on 3 for a
specific time (usually 5 minutes) and are removed
from the situation, onto a table / space of his
or her own within the classroom or another
designated place within the setting. This gives a
child time to reflect.
10At the end of the time child is reminded of
appropriate behaviour and rejoins activity.
11If a childs behaviour is deemed to be dangerous
or aggressive to self or others they can be given
an immediate 3 and time out.
12 We always try not to enter into verbal ping
pong!
13Stage 2 of our policy is for a child who has
persistent and significant behaviour management
issues. We get very few of these.
