2
INTRODUCTION
  • Controlled variables-the same place my backyard.
  • Experimental variables-Using a crystal radio and
    a regular radio.

3
Backgroground research
  • Radio Frequency Identification- finding how many
radio waves are being detected in the area.
  • Crystal Radio- A radio that usually uses a
    crystal rod antenna.

4
Question and Hypothesis
  • Question- Can a crystal radio pickup more radio
    stations than a regular radio?
  • Hypothesis- If a crystal radio picks up more
radio stations, then this proves that a crystal
radio can pick up more radio stations.
  • I think that the crystal radio can pick up more
radio stations because the antenna is longer than
    the regular radio antenna.

5
Materials
  • 7dk of 40cm of spooled wire.
  • 2 ½ cm 34 Diode.
  • 1 47k watt resistor.
  • 1 hi impedance ceramic speaker
  • 1 wood board.
  • 1 regular radio.

6
Procedure
  • Get materials.
  • Build crystal radio.
  • Set up the observation table.
  • Get both radios set up outside. Test hypothesis
    on two different days.
  • Draw conclusion.

7
Observation Table
Dates Crystal Radio Regular Radio
11/25 Has less radio stations. Has twice as much radio stations.
11/27 It picked up more stations. It still had more radio stations.
8
Crystal Radio VS. Regular Radio
The graph shows how much radio stations are being
detected.
9
Data Analysis
  • In my experiment the crystal radio did not pick
up as much radio stations as the regular radio.
  • The crystal radio picked up less radio stations,
the radio had at least twice as much more radio
    stations.
  • The results werent much different on the trails.

Conclusion
  • My hypothesis was incorrect, the crystal radio
only picked up 34-38 radio stations. The regular
radio picked up 72-79 radio stations.
  • If I would do the project again I would have
built the crystal radio better and have a longer
    antenna.
  • I recommend this project to people that have a
lot of time, because the crystal radio is hard to
    build.
