The Goals

• Define Matter
• Calculate and understand density
• Describe viscosity
• Understand what matter is made up of
• Describe how particles in matter move in each
  phase
• Describe how energy levels from each phase relate
  to each other
• Classify matter as element, compound,
  homogeneous mixture, or heterogeneous mixture
• Know how to manipulate equations to solve for
  unknowns

Matter(more than you want to know)

• Defined as anything that has mass and volume
• Because it has mass and volume it also has
  density
• Matter exists in 4 phases
• Atoms are the building block of all matter
• Matter can be grouped into pure substances and
  mixtures
• All matter has certain chemical and physical
  properties
