  • The Hong Kong Government established the Hong
    Kong Academy of Medicine Preparatory Committee
    1990
  • The Committee completed draft legislation then
    submitted it to the Executive and Legislation
    Councils 1991
  • The Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Ordinance (cap.
    419) was passed by the Legislation Council 1992

  • Background ( Contd )
  • The Academy of Medicine was officially
    inaugurated on 9 December 1993 with twelve
    Academy Colleges and two Faculties. Currently
    there are a total of fifteen Academy Colleges
    including the College of Dental Surgeons of Hong
    Kong 1993
  • Construction of the Academy Building at Wong Chuk
    Hang started and an occupation permit was
    obtained. 1998

  • The College of Dental Surgeons of Hong Kong was
    incorporated in February 1993 whose main
    objectives are
  • to promote for the public benefit the advancement
    of knowledge in the field of Dental surgery and
    its associated subjects (Dental Surgery)
  • to act as an authoritative body for the purpose
    of consultation on matters of educational or
    public interest concerning Dental Surgery
  • to promote training and research in Dental
    Surgery

    trainees.
