Title: Survey Project on Teenage Detachment

1
Survey Project on Teenage Detachment
2
1. Teens with game systems show less affection
towards their parents than teens without game
systems.
3
Results 1
  • Hypothesis was wrong
  • Most teens greet their parents no matter what
  • 83 of students own a game system

4
2. The declination of modern parental
disciplinary methods allows teens to grow apart
from their families easier.
5
Results 2
  • Correct hypothesis
  • Majority of students have strict or moderate
    parents instead of extremes
  • 0 of students with very strict parents talk less
    than 1 hour
  • Opposite for parents that arent strict at all

6
3. Boys are less likely to talk to their parents
when they have problems than girls.
7
Results 3
  • Girls do talk with their parents more
  • Girls answered more evenly than boys

Methodology
  • - At first we did not know what questions to ask
so we started off with easy ones like how old
are you? and what is your gender?
  • - We did not have a single problem they just
miraculously came to us as we were writing the
    survey. HA
  • - We didnt really choose specific classes to
survey. We thought that it would be better to
survey upperclassmen because they would be more
    mature than underclassmen.
  • - I only got one question about the survey and
that was from a girl that wanted to know if her
brother has a game system than it would count as
her owning one herself. Another time someone over
analyzed the survey and pointed out that we
should have put 1-2 hours instead of 1 hours
because 1 hours could mean anything more than 1
    hour.
  • - We have input from more juniors and seniors
than underclassmen, so it will give less of an
age range on the answers to the survey questions.
We also interviewed 2 AP classes as well so we
only had a single nonsense survey.
  • - Economic achievement doesnt really change how
much kids talk to their parents, they can be
smart and still not talk to them anymore than
kids that dont get good grades.
