  • Questions 1-24 are worth 3 points each.
  • 3 x 24 72 points possible. Please write down
the score on the score sheet and on the test
    youre grading.

26. Draw and label a worm showing the digestion
system. Label all parts (10 points total)
(5drawing/5 label)
  • mouth, anus, intestine, pharynx, esophagus,
    gizzard, crop

8
27. Draw and label a body location worm, showing
clitellium, segments, mouth and anus (5 points)
9
28. Draw and label a worm showing the nervous
system. (Brain, ganglia, ventral nerve cord)(5
points)
10
29. Draw and label a worm showing the respiratory
system/gas exchange (5 points)
The worm uses its moist skin as a surface
through which it absorbs oxygen and releases
carbon dioxide.
11
30. Draw and label a worm showing the locomotion
system (5 pts)
12
31. Draw and label a worm showing the circulatory
system. (10 points)
13
32. Draw 2 worms with the excretory system (show
both nephrida/nephridapore) (5 points)
14
33. Draw a worm showing the reproductive system
slime tube, seminal vesicles, ovary, clitellium,
cocoon. (25 points)
15
34. Show ( 5 pts) and describe with details (20
pts) the worms unique reproductive system(see
33 for drawing)
  • The worm is hermophroditic, which means that it
has both sex organs, the males testes (which
produce the sperm) and the ovaries which are the
females sex organ which produce the eggs.
  • The worm can not self fertilize, it must take a
mate and exchange sperm. This is called
    copulation.
  • The worm copulates with its mate during the
spring, when the ground is moist, and at night,
    for 2 hours.
  • Once the sperm exchange (sliming) is complete, a
cocoon is formed at the clitellium and moves over
the worms head and falls off. It is left behind.
It will produce a worm in about 2-3 weeks.

16
35. Match the following a) open circulatory
system b) closed circulatory system
  • 1. man __b_
  • 2. bathed in blood _a
  • 3. specific vessels__b_
  • 4. veins, arteries _b__
  • 5. grasshopper _a__
  • 6. worm __b_
  • 7. water balloon _a___
  • ( 3 pts each 21 pts)

17
36. Describe the Regulation system. Explain the
difference between the nervous system and the
endocrine system. (10 points)
  • Nervous System Quick and rapid response
  • (5 pts)
  • Endocrine System HORMONES! This is chemical
control and is long lasting. It controls growth
    and development. (5 pts)

18
37. Who was Linneus and what did he do of
importance? (10 points)
  • Father of classification... created the system
  • Kingdom Phylum class order family genus species

19
38. What does being cold blooded do for the
earthworm? How does it benefit it? (25 points)
  • The term is called Poikilothermic which means
cold blooded. This means that the animals body
temp becomes that of the environment. (10 pts)
  • In the summer, when it is warm, the animal is
very active and food is plentiful. In the winter,
when the ground is frozen and hard, the body temp
goes down, and the animal slows down and so does
the need for a lot of food. This helps the animal
live and survive even when the temp is cold. (15
    points)
