15Decision to go to college - Mom
16Decision to go to college - Michael
- But it was one of my teachers at The Day school
who really was the first person outside of my
family who told me I would go to college. She
saw the potential I had and believed in me.

21Scheduling
- I only take two classes a semester because of the
workload. - I can't have too many writing classes at once. It
would be way too much for me if I took more than
two at a time. - Since I use my DynaVox and type using a switch
with my head writing constantly drains me not
only mentally but also physically.

34Who I am my tastes in music
- I have always loved music since I was young. My
first favorite group was New Kids on the Block!
I am a die-hard fan. - I find as I age, I like more varieties of
music. I don't restrict myself to one kind, as I
did when I was younger. - My music preferences have expanded throughout the
years, from New Kids on the block to John Mayer,
Jordan Knight, Shania Twain, and Clay Aiken.
35Who I am my tastes in music (continued)
- I have attended so many concerts, but two of my
favorites were Jordan Knight and Clay Aiken. They
were both extraordinary concerts, they will
always hold a place in my heart. - While it is true that I will never like hard
rock, country, or rap, my tastes in music will
keep growing within a certain range. - But like old, comfortable shoes, I will always go
back to my favorites because they reflect very
special parts of my life!
36Who I am as a presenter
- I have presented at PEC since I was 9 years old
on a variety of topics, most recently I have been
speaking about my college experiences. - I even spoke at my graduation ceremony at the
Childrens Institute of Pittsburgh! Saying
goodbye to my second family was very hard on that
day. I, along with everyone else who knew me,
cried when I gave my graduation speech. - In 2005, I presented with Michael Williams during
a panel discussion about college. I spoke about
the benefits of using multimodal communication
across the many college environments that I
encounter.
