• To become effective writers, journalists must
  understand more than the basics of grammar and
  word usage. They have to become experts. (p.
  29)
• Chapter covers basic grammar nouns, verbs,
  adjectives, etc. Also basic sentence structure,
  active and passive voice, agreement, misplaced
  and dangling modifiers, personification, and
  parallel form.
• For Homework Read Chapter 2, Grammar and
  Spelling, and do Recognizing and Correcting News
  Writing Errors, Sections I-VI on pages 52-53.
  Dont copy edit, just retype each sentence making
  necessary corrections for grammar, punctuation,
  AP style. Double space all of the rewrites.
