What is Keyboard?
  • The set of typewriter-like keys that enables
you to enter data into a computer. Computer
    keyboards are similar to electric-typewriter
keyboards but contain additional keys. The keys
on computer keyboards are often classified as
    follows
  • Alphanumeric keys -- letters and numbers.
  • Punctuation keys -- comma, period, semicolon ,and
    so on.
  • Special keys -- function keys, control keys,
arrow keys, Caps Lock key ,and so on.
  • The standard layout of letters, number, and
punctuation is known as a QWERTY keyboard.

What is Virtual Keyboard?
  • A virtual keyboard consists of a laser
  • that projects an image of a keyboard onto
  • a flat surface which can then be typed on as
    if it were actually there.

6
  • The Virtual Keyboard attaches to handhelds and
projects the image of a full-size keyboard onto
the surface of the desk where the handheld is
placed, allowing the user to input text without a
    physical keyboard.

7
HOW ITS WORK?
8
  • Step1Template creation (Projection Module)
  • A template of the desired interface is
projected onto the adjacent interface surface.
The template is produced by illuminating a
    specially designed ,highly efficient
holographic optical element with a red diode
    laser.
  • Step2 Reference plane illumination
    (Micro-illumination Module TM)
  • A infra-red plane of light is generated just
above, and parallel to the, interface surface.
This light is invisible to the user and hovers a
    few millimeter above the surface.

9
  • Step3Map reflection coordinates (sensor module)
  • Reflected light from user interaction with the
interface surface is passed through an infra-red
filter and imaged on to a CMOS image sensor in
    the sensor module.
  • Custom hardware embedded in the sensor chip
the makes a real-time determination of the
    location of the reflected light.
  • The processing core can track multiple
reflection events simultaneously and can thus
support both multiple keystrokes and overlapping
    cursor control inputs.

10
Virtual Keyboard for Pcs
  • A keyboard image is projected onto any surface.
Touching a keys image generates a unique
electronic signal corresponding to the keys
    image that was touched.

11
Virtual keyboard for PDAs
  • There are no mechanical moving parts whatsoever
in the Virtual Laser Keyboard, it provides a
projected image that is the perfect portable
    input device for PDAs.

12
Features of Virtual keyboard
  • About the size of a small cellular phone, (90 x
34 x 24 mm), the VKB enables users to type texts
or e-mails as easily as with a ordinary keyboard.
Imagine how easy it would be, if you had a proper
mobile phone keyboard that fits in your pocket...
  • VKB's adaptable technology studies the user's
finger movements to interpret and record
    keystrokes.

13

BENEFITS OF VKB
  • This is a keyboard of light projected on to any
surface. This means that it cant be broken,
never needs cleaning ,sets up with no wiring and
takes up no room when not in use. It is keyless,
button-less, and switch-less nothing to collect
    dirt.
  • The VKB is operational in minutes with just a
plug in. It can be used on any computer system
    that uses a keyboard.

24
FUTURE SCOPE
  • The Virtual Keyboard for PC can be a great choice
for the family computer that is exposed to food,
drink and other keyboard damaging agents.
  • It can also be a quite chic on the professionals
desk where space and neatness are important.
