Curricular Requirements and Goals
  • The course uses earth science, biology, and
chemistry to understand the interrelationships of
    the natural world.
  • The course includes methods for analyzing and
    interpreting information and experimental data,
    including mathematical calculations.

8
Curricular Requirements and Goals
  • The course teaches students how to identify and
analyze environmental problems, to evaluate the
ecological and human health risks associated with
these problems, and to critically examine
solutions for resolving or preventing them.
  • The course includes a laboratory and/or field
investigation component. A minimum of one class
period or its equivalent per week is spent
engaged in laboratory and/or field work (on
    average).

9
Curricular Requirements
  • The course and AP test cover the following seven
    content areas
  • Earth Systems and Resources (10-15)
  • The Living World (10-15)
  • Population (10-15)
  • Land and Water Use (10-15)
  • Energy Resources and Consumption (10-15)
  • Pollution (25-30)
  • Global Change (10-15)

10
Strategies for Success
  • Read the text and take notes with vocabulary.
  • Participate in labs.
  • Relate what you are learning to an environmental
issue so you can remember it better.
  • Stay organized and keep everything.
  • Share your opinions and take in the opinion of
    all sides.
