  • Eleanor was born October 11, 1884.
  • She grew up in a wealthy family.
  • When she was 15, she went to school in England
  • Married a President.

  • Eleanor Roosevelt supported equal opportunities
    for African Americans and Women.
  • She was the first chairperson of the United
    Nations Human Rights Commission.
  • She visited relief projects and reported progress
    back to her husband.
  • She was an advocate for the rights of the poor
    and impoverished.

  • In 1925, Eleanor started Val-Kill shop to give
    jobs to people in the community.
  • She became the First Lady in 1933.
