  • The Norwegian Schoolnet is the Directorate for
Primary and Secondary Educations portal on the
Internet and is designed forpupils, teachers and
    school administrators, parents and others
interested in schools and education. The portal
will be of use to everyone who participates in
or is responsible for primary and secondary
    education.
  • The Norwegian Schoolnet is affiliated with the
Nordic and the European schools networks.
    http//www.nordskol.org/ http//www.eun.org/
  • The Norwegian Schoolnet was established by the
National Centre for Educational Resources in 1996
as part of the follow-up to the Action Plan for
ICT, which started the same year. The portal was
relaunched for the first time in the autumn of
2000. Needs and expectations change over time and
this is also true for Schoolnet. It was
therefore decided to make some major changes and
updates to the portal in the autumn of 2004 as
well, now as part of the Directorate for Primary
and Secondary Educations activities. The result
is the portal you see today. We have adopted a
subject menu as a publishing aid. The goal of
this is to allow us to offer resources and
content in a more coherent and flexible way.

Improvement / development
  • New portal start pages
  • One of the biggest and most visible changes
    Schoolnet has implemented in this
  • relaunch is better navigation for our target
    groups.
  • for pupils in years 1 7
  • for pupils in years 8 10
  • for pupils in upper secondary education
  • a specific teacher and school administrator start
    page
  • Foreldrenettet (a website for Norwegian parents)
also has its own start page from the portal
  • Why have we done this?
  • Because we want to make The Norwegian Schoolnets
diversity easier to navigate for the various
pupil groups in Norwegian schools. And not least
to make the teachers job a bit easier by making
it simpler to find what one is looking for, both
when it comes to the type of school the teacher
works in and to finding relevant plans, guidance,
tips and other things specifically targeted at
    Norwegian teachers.

    Norwegian Schoolnets content areas, links,
newsand activities form an important part of
what we can offer those associated with schools
or those who are themselves at some stage or

The National Support System for Special Education
(Statped)
  • The National Support System for Special Education
(Statped) ismanaged by the The Directorate for
Primary and SecondaryEducation in Norway. This
Directorate is responsible for thedevelopment of
primary and secondary education and is the
executiveagency for the Ministry of Education
    and Research.
  • The National Support System for Special Education
(Statped) consists of 15 resource centres owned
by the State, and 10 units for special education,
    owned by local authorities, county
    administrations, foundations or private
organisations, where Statped buys services. These
centres offer special educational guidance and
support for local authorities and county
    administrations.
  • The State-owned resource centres carry out most
of the service production within the enterprise.
The other units linked to Statped are not owned
by the State, but offer services according to
contracts between each unit and the State.
  • The general objective for Statped is to give
guidance and support to those in charge of the
    education in municipalities and county
administrations to ensure that children, young
people and adults with major and special
    educational needs are secured well-advised
    educational and developmental provisions.
  • The institutions affiliated with The National
Support System for Special Education offer a
broad spectrum of services. The system comprises
    a total of about 1000 man-labour years.

Skoleporten
  • Skoleporten is a website that provides data from
primaryand secondary schools in Norway. These
data are meantas resources for local work on
issues concerning evaluation and development. The
website also offers resources to contribute to
    interpretation, assessment and development within
the schools. The main target persons for the
website are school principals, head teachers and
school administrators and politicians. But also
parents, pupils and the public in general will
    hopefully find the website useful.
