- The Norwegian Schoolnet is the Directorate for
Primary and Secondary Educations portal on the
Internet and is designed forpupils, teachers and
school administrators, parents and others
interested in schools and education. The portal
will be of use to everyone who participates in
or is responsible for primary and secondary
education. - The Norwegian Schoolnet is affiliated with the
Nordic and the European schools networks.
http//www.nordskol.org/ http//www.eun.org/ - The Norwegian Schoolnet was established by the
National Centre for Educational Resources in 1996
as part of the follow-up to the Action Plan for
ICT, which started the same year. The portal was
relaunched for the first time in the autumn of
2000. Needs and expectations change over time and
this is also true for Schoolnet. It was
therefore decided to make some major changes and
updates to the portal in the autumn of 2004 as
well, now as part of the Directorate for Primary
and Secondary Educations activities. The result
is the portal you see today. We have adopted a
subject menu as a publishing aid. The goal of
this is to allow us to offer resources and
content in a more coherent and flexible way.

5Improvement / development
- New portal start pages
- One of the biggest and most visible changes
Schoolnet has implemented in this - relaunch is better navigation for our target
groups. - for pupils in years 1 7
- for pupils in years 8 10
- for pupils in upper secondary education
- a specific teacher and school administrator start
page - Foreldrenettet (a website for Norwegian parents)
also has its own start page from the portal - Why have we done this?
- Because we want to make The Norwegian Schoolnets
diversity easier to navigate for the various
pupil groups in Norwegian schools. And not least
to make the teachers job a bit easier by making
it simpler to find what one is looking for, both
when it comes to the type of school the teacher
works in and to finding relevant plans, guidance,
tips and other things specifically targeted at
Norwegian teachers.
