3 4.7 x greater risk with no protection compared
to a visor (half-shield)
- No eye or neck injuries occurred to players
wearing full protection
4Conclusion
- This study demonstrates that both full and
partial facial protection significantly reduce
injuries to the eye and face without increasing
neck injuries and concussions.
5Rule Change
All players are required to wear full facial
protection.
Players 18 years of age and older may wear a
half shield (visor) if they sign a waiver.
6Recommendation
It is strongly recommended that all players
including Seniors wear facial protection (HECC
certified full face masks).
7Correct Helmet Position
The helmet and half shield must not be worn
(tilted back) so that the bottom of the visor is
above the tip of the nose. (violation
misconduct penalty)
