Important dates
  • 5000-4000 B.C- Farmers established permanent
    settlements along the Nile River. These grew into
    regional states.
  • 3500 B.C. - Some of these states/kingdoms had
    been united into Upper and Lower Egypt.
  • 3100 B.C. - The first dynasty of Egypt was
    established by King Menes. This was the longest
    lasting dynasty in history (3000 years)
  • 2600 B.C. Pharaoh Khufu built the Great
    Pyramid.

  • 1570-1085 B.C. Egypt grew further. It expanded
    toward Palestine and Syria. This was known as the
    New Kingdom in Egypt.
  • 1000 B.C. Iron age began.
  • 751 B.C. Kush (Egyptianized African kingdom)
    conquered southern Egypt.
  • 323 B.C. All good things must come to an end.
    Alexander the Great conquered the lower Nile and
    thus ended the last Egyptian dynasty.
  • 55 B.C. Iron Age ended.
  • 300 A.D. Kush has disappeared (self destructed).
  • 400 A.D. Axum becomes Christian.
  • 500 A.D. Bantu speaking people reached southern
    Africa
  • 8th century A.D. The fall of Axum due to the
    expansion of Islam.
  • 1978- Mr. Crowe was born, what a wonderful day
    for humanity.

  • 622 The year of the Hijra, the flight of the
    prophet Mohammed.
  • 632 Mohammeds death. Almost all Arabs were
    united under Islam.
  • BY 1000 Trade between China and East Africa was
    flourishing.
  • 1300s Great Zimbabwe housed 18,000.
  • 1400-1500 Great Zimbabwe declined.
