MENS FASHION
  • ? Man in the Middle Ages wore a tunic as long
    as the knees tied by a belt or a rope. Hanging
    from the belt there was a scarsella, a cloth
    bag.
  • In the thirteenth century, men began wearing
    shirts and trousers and the use of buttons was
    also introduced.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF MENS CLOTHES
  • POOR MEN they usually wore a work dress until
    it became old and worn out, sometimes they wore a
    party dress that they never changed it in their
    life. Anyway the party dress wasnt so beautiful
    as the dress of a rich man because clothes
    decorations were very expensive and poor men
    couldnt afford them.
  • CHURCHMEN priests usually wore a black or
    white or brown GOWN and a belt USUALLY A rope,
    the gown usually had a hood. The cardinals wore
    more precious dresses because their social role
    was more important than the other ecclesiastical
    men.
  • RICH MEN They wore dresses likes the ones of
    the other social classes,the differences were
    only in the type of material used to make
    dresses, in fact their dresses were made of
    linen, wool and oriental fabrics.

WOMENS FASHION
  • Clothes for women were characterized by great
    variety of fabrics and rich ornaments. They, like
    men, wore socks with garters but they did not
    wear a belt for trousers, and they generally wore
    high and possibly very tight shoes.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF WOMENS CLOTHES
  • RICH WOMEN The clothes were made of a long under
    wear with long and narrow sleeves and a large
    overcoat with sleeves to the elbow, The fabrics
    were always valuable and often embellished with
    embroidery. The married women wore a veil and
    their hairstyles were simple. Unmarried women
    used to tie their hair both in long plaits or
    elaborate buns .they might wear it loose.

SOLDIERS and KNIGHTS
  • Below about 20 kg of armour, the knights wore a
    shirt and trousers.
  • The Crusaders wore a tunic and a white cloak with
    a red cross if the were Templar a white tunic
    with a black cross if they were Teutonic or a
    black tunic with a white cross if they were
    Hospitallers.
