Solicit Idea (Year 1)
  • Ideas are solicited year-round
  • Ideas are accepted through the NATA Foundation
    websitehttp//www.natafoundation.org/about/leader
    ship/committees/pronouncements-committee
  • Ideas may be submitted directly to the PC through
    email or other forms of communication
  1. Those submitting ideas for PSs are asked to
    include a 1-page proposal outlining ideas for
    recommendations content. Included should be
    the key references which will support major
    recommendations.
  • PC will ideas during June meeting, choosing 1-3
    ideas for development. The review process
    includes the following questions
  • Will the idea result in a good PS for ATs?
  • Is there sufficient literature to support the PS?
  • Is there an AT who is an expert in the area who
    can lead the writing group?

  1. Lead author (AT) invited by the PC
  1. Author packet sent to lead author
  1. PC liaison subcommittee (2 additional members)
    assigned to PS by PC chair
  • Lead author submits writing group members to PC
    for approval
  • All COI and other forms (Authorship contribution
    form, Author contract, Conflict of Interest form)
    are submitted
  • Writing group should include 5-8 members
  • Writing group should include the following
  • International experts in the area of topic
  • Practicing ATs in the area of topic
  • Practicing MDs/DOs in the area of the topic
  • Other healthcare professionals relevant to the
    topic
  1. PC approves writing team no later than June
    meeting
  1. Writing group has 1 year to submit reviewable
    draft to PC

  1. The lead author may choose how to lead the
    writing group
  1. The PC liaison will follow-up on a regular basis
    with the lead author
  • A finished, reviewable draft will be submitted to
    the PC subcommittee
  • The authors guide provides detailed information
    about the format structure of the PC
  • The SORT should be applied to all recommendations
    in this draft

  • PC Subcommittee Review (multiple reviews if
    necessary)
  • Structure organization review
  • External Review
  • Content review
  • Approximately 5 international experts (not on the
    writing team)
  • PC Review (whole committee)
  • Overall format, structure, and content review
